It was 1994.  A little punk band called Green Day only had a vague idea of what they were getting themselves into.

18 years ago today their first major label album was released, lovingly entitled 'Dookie.'

The rest is history.

Dookie will always have a special place in my heart.  I remember when Longview, Basket Case, and Welcome to Paradise hit the radio. I remember Woodstock.  I still have my copy of Dookie from 18 years ago...

Great album, weird to believe it's all growed up! I disagree that those were the times when music had meaning, compared to AI and 21st Century Breakdown, which spoke about everything from alienation to politics, whereas Dookie had a bit of meaning, but nothing world changing. I mean, Longview was about masturbation LOL
